Welcome to the agentic era. Recapping Google Cloud Next 2026

Google Cloud Next 2026 made one thing clear: the “pilot phase” for AI is over.   We’re seeing a massive move away from just experimenting with Gemini Enterprise for CX (GECX) toward actually running it at scale.  Walking the floor this year, the vibe was less about theory and more about action — specifically, how autonomous agents can finally start delivering measurable results.

Google’s big announcement

Google headlined the keynote by announcing a significant evolution in its AI stack: they are transitioning Vertex AI into the new Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. By embedding the high-velocity capabilities of the Vertex AI Agent Builder directly into this new unified platform, Google has created an engine designed to build, deploy, and manage agents that do more than process information. Now, they can perform complex enterprise work.

"Google’s announcements surrounding GECX and the advancements in Vertex AI Agent Builder prove that the agentic shift is already here. Boards will no longer simply ask how you are using AI; they will demand tangible top-line growth and measurable productivity through the strategic implementation of autonomous agents,” said Garrett Stuart, VP of Google GTM at TTEC Digital.

The next phase of AI and CX differentiation

One of the most significant themes at Google Next was that "going live" is just the starting line. While many brands have successfully integrated AI into their customer experience (CX) workflows, the next phase will be won by those who push the boundaries of what these models can really do.

"Clients who have already gone live on Gemini Enterprise for CX should absolutely be celebrated by their teams, their partners, and Google. At the same time, there is massive room for new experiences to emerge — not by just copying what these early adopters did, but by using more of what the technology is already capable of. Today, not tomorrow, brands have the ability to differentiate themselves with GECX in ways no one else can,” said Nathan Galloway, Executive Director of Google Solution Architecture at TTEC Digital.

Achieving this level of distinction requires more than just a clever interface. It demands a radical acceleration of the entire data ecosystem because AI is only as effective as the data supporting it.

Data agency: Architecting for action

The launch of the Agentic Data Cloud and the Cross-Cloud Lakehouse at Google Next addressed the data latency and lag issues that usually kill these projects.

"The Agentic Data Cloud and the Cross-Cloud Lakehouse are exactly what our clients need to advance beyond simple migration into a modernized architecture that finally eliminates legacy silos and business metric inconsistencies,” said Anhai Jin, Executive Director of Data Science at TTEC Digital

We’re moving past the idea that data is just something you store. With these updates, your data actually does something. By removing the friction between storage and utility, organizations can finally sync business observations with immediate execution.

"The mandate for 2026 is to collapse the gap between raw data and intelligent actions. By integrating an AI-enabled analytics workflow, we are empowering leaders to move from reactive reporting to proactive insights activation that scales across the entire enterprise," Jin said.

Infrastructure: Scaling with speed and security

The agentic shift also promises a massive reduction in response times. With the introduction of products like Agentic Defense and Agentic Data Lakes, the timeline for critical business processes is being compressed from hours to seconds. This is particularly important in cybersecurity, where the Agentic Security Dashboard now allows for real-time anomaly detection and resolution.

"There is a desperate need for speed across all phases, and with innovations like Agentic Defense, enterprises can finally take decisive action in seconds rather than hours. That could mean turning a 60-minute investigation into a 60-second resolution or proactively stopping a threat before it ever hits your data," Galloway said.

ICYMI: TTEC Digital @ Next

TTEC Digital’s sessions at Next focused on the practical application of these technologies, particularly within the public sector vertical. During our Mission Talks, we demonstrated how our proprietary AI Gateway integrates with GECX to solve high-stakes challenges for government and defense agencies.

In our session, "Seamless Self Service with Google AI," Mark Eichten, TTEC Digital Executive Director of Conversational AI, showcased an AI agent autonomously validating citizen pothole reports, processing photos, and generating real-time service requests to reduce government workloads.

In our "AI-Driven Personnel Support for DoD" session, we highlighted a Vertex AI agent designed to parse dense military manuals and promotion requirements, providing instant career guidance to mission specialists.

Together, these sessions demonstrated that when backend data syncs with autonomous agents, the standard for enterprise speed rapidly accelerates.

"The energy at Next was all about execution. Between deep dives in Codelabs and strategizing with Google’s global leaders, it’s clear that Gemini Enterprise is the new gold standard. I’m proud to see TTEC Digital’s latest releases hit the Marketplace, including our AI Gateway and our partnership with Botcopy. We aren't just talking about the future of CX; we’re delivering the agents that power it," Eichten said.

The road ahead: Modernizing without disruption

Google Cloud Next 2026 proved that AI agents are finally moving from concept to actual customer-facing roles. But to make this work, you need a strategy that harmonizes legacy systems, data governance and human-centered design.
