TTEC lands $21M deal to modernize IRS contact center handling 200 million calls a year

The IRS has awarded TTEC Government Solutions, working alongside TTEC Digital, a one-year, $21 million contract touching an operation with more than 30,000 associates and over 200 million annual call events. As Dom Nicastro of CMSWire reports, the award, made through TTEC's General Services Administration Multiple Award Schedule, names TTEC Government Solutions prime contractor for the engagement.

Nicastro places the deal inside a much wider 2026 movement. He points to Salesforce's $1.6 billion VA award and its $5.6 billion Army contract, arguing that the prevailing blueprint across government contact center deals is the same: layer agentic AI and self-service onto legacy infrastructure to help human associates work faster, not replace the systems outright. The TTEC Digital-IRS contract, he posits, is a proof point in a much bigger trend.

Nicastro also connects the award to TTEC Digital's recent track record. In July, CMSWire reported that TTEC Digital completed the first live customer deployment of Salesforce's Agentforce Contact Center with nonprofit lender Compass Working Capital. That go-live, paired with TTEC's in-house AI Gateway and Agentforce Contact Center offerings, gives the company a working reference story for the same "AI layered on, not ripped and replaced" modernization the IRS contract now asks it to deliver at federal scale.

The throughline is clear: 2026's government contact center deals share a common blueprint, and TTEC Digital is positioning itself squarely inside it.

"For years, our teams have supported the IRS's contact center environment, giving us a deep understanding of its technology, operations and mission. We're honored to serve as the prime contractor and look forward to delivering a seamless transition."
